Back in the Rain

Sometimes Your silence is so loud
Sometimes it cuts me to the ground
And though i know you're always here
I often wish you'd make it clear

Days like this i can't help but feel
You've never seemed more unreal
I long to feel you're peace inside
But each time I ask i get denied

You say you're closest in the dark
But now i don't know where you are
My last bit of hope's slipping away
I no longer see that sunshine ray
'Cause just when i think i see the end
I find myself shoved back in the rain again

You've promised you would never leave
But i find it's harder to believe
How can I live you're love out loud
When all i seem to do is doubt

You say you're closest in the dark
But now i don't know where you are
My last bit of hope's slipping away
I no longer see that sunshine ray
'Cause just when I think I see the end
I find myself shoved back in the rain again

I have to believe there's a reason
Something that'll turn this around
I'll never let go of this hope
There's an ending to this lonely road
And it gives me the strength to go on

You say you're closest in the dark
And though its hard to see where you are
I can keep that hope from slipping away
By latching on to that sunshine ray
I'll look for the day when it all will end
and I won't be forced back in the rain again

  1. I love that first stanza. May I use it in some upcoming teaching I'll be doing?
